Discover Seychelles — A Private Island Paradise of Pure Luxury

Private islands, turquoise waters, dramatic granite formations, and world-class villas.

Overview

An archipelago where nature still writes the rules

Seychelles is 115 granite and coral islands scattered across the western Indian Ocean — beaches framed by sculpted boulders older than most continents, forests of coco de mer palms found nowhere else on earth, and water so clear the reef shadows show from the air.

The luxury here is seclusion. Resorts occupy whole islands or entire bays, villas hide among the rocks, and the day's biggest decision is which cove to swim before lunch. It is the rare destination where "untouched" is not marketing — it is policy.

Best time to visit

  • April – May: calm seas, warm water, and superb diving visibility.
  • October – November: equally calm — our other favorite window for swimming and sailing.
  • June – September: drier and breezier; lovely for hiking and whale-shark season.
  • December – March: warmer and more humid, with short tropical showers.

Why it's perfect

  • Entire private islands and bays reserved for a handful of guests.
  • The world's most photographed beaches — and no crowds on them.
  • Rare wildlife: giant tortoises, coco de mer, untouched reefs.
  • Easy island-hopping by ferry, helicopter, or private yacht.
  • A genuine year-round climate just south of the cyclone belt.

Travel Tips

What to know before you go

How long to stay

Seven to ten nights lets you split between Mahé or a private island and Praslin, with a day on La Digue. Two weeks suits divers and anyone adding an outer-island atoll.

Where to stay

  • Mahé: the main island — dramatic bays, hiking, and the widest choice of resorts.
  • Praslin: the Vallée de Mai, Anse Lazio, and a slower rhythm.
  • La Digue: bicycles, oxcarts, and the famous boulder beaches.
  • Private islands: North Island, Félicité, and the outer atolls for total seclusion.

What to pack

  • Light resort wear — the dress code is barefoot-elegant.
  • Reef-safe sunscreen and a rash guard for long snorkel days.
  • Water shoes for boulder beaches and boat landings.
  • Sturdy sandals for forest trails and granite viewpoints.
  • Binoculars for whale sharks, turtles, and seabird colonies.

Getting there

International flights arrive at Mahé (SEZ) with direct connections from the Gulf, Europe, and Africa. The airport sits minutes from the capital, Victoria, and the island's southern bays.

Praslin is a 15-minute island-hopper flight or an hour by catamaran ferry; La Digue is 15 minutes further by boat. Private-island resorts arrange helicopter or yacht transfers from Mahé — we coordinate every leg so arrival feels like part of the holiday.

Who it's perfect for

Seychelles suits travelers who measure luxury in space

  • Honeymooners wanting a true private-island experience
  • Anniversary and milestone birthday trips with beaches all to yourselves
  • Retirement escapes for couples drawn to rare wildlife and primeval forests
  • Divers and snorkelers chasing healthy, uncrowded reefs
  • Couples who want luxury without another resort tower in sight
