6 Luxury Beach Escapes for a Milestone Anniversary

By Luxe Beach Retreats·October 24, 2026

A milestone anniversary deserves more than a nice hotel. It deserves a place that feels like a celebration the moment you arrive. Twenty-five years, thirty, forty: these are the trips couples talk about for the rest of their lives.

Below are six beach escapes we love for exactly this kind of trip. Each one pairs a destination with a resort that does romance quietly and well. Rates vary by season and room type, so your advisor will confirm current pricing and availability for your dates.

How to choose the right anniversary escape

Start with how you want to spend your days. Some couples want total privacy and a lagoon outside the door. Others want long lunches, a little history and an evening walk through a village.

Then think about time. The Maldives, Seychelles and Bora Bora reward longer stays, because getting there takes a full day or more from North America. Santorini and the Amalfi Coast work well for a week, or as part of a longer trip through Europe. Bali sits somewhere in between.

Finally, think about the season. A beautiful resort in the wrong month can disappoint. Each section below includes a short note on timing.

1. The Maldives: for a lagoon all your own

The Maldives is the classic anniversary choice, and for good reason. Villas stand over clear, shallow water, and days take on an easy rhythm of swimming, reading and long dinners by the sea.

Soneva Jani in Noonu Atoll is our pick for a milestone. The resort spreads across five islands with a lagoon of about three and a half miles. Many of its overwater villas have a water slide into the lagoon, and the bedroom roof opens at the push of a button, so you can fall asleep under the stars. It is playful and deeply romantic at the same time.

When to go: The drier northeast monsoon runs from January to March, with December and April as transition months. The wetter southwest monsoon runs from mid-May to November, though rain usually comes as short showers between sunny spells.

2. Bora Bora: for the view you have imagined for years

Bora Bora is the postcard many of us carry in our heads: a green volcanic peak rising from a turquoise lagoon. For a 25th or 40th anniversary, few places feel more like a dream come true.

Four Seasons Resort Bora Bora sits on its own motu, a small island facing Mount Otemanu. Its overwater bungalows have teak decks with ladders into the lagoon, and many have a private plunge pool. The resort's protected Ruahatu Lagoon Sanctuary is lovely for gentle snorkeling with a marine biologist.

The St. Regis Bora Bora Resort is an equally fine choice. Its private Lagoonarium is a protected sea sanctuary, and the spa sits on its own island in the middle of it.

When to go: May to October is the dry season, with sunshine and highs around 82°F. April and November are good shoulder months. December to March is warmer, wetter and quieter.

3. The Seychelles: for a private island feeling

The Seychelles feels wilder than the Maldives. Granite boulders frame the beaches, and green hills rise behind them. It suits couples who want privacy with a little sense of discovery.

North Island is about as private as a beach escape gets. There are just 11 villas, reached by a helicopter ride of around 20 minutes from Mahé. The island has been carefully restored, and guests can learn about the giant tortoises and native birds that live there.

Six Senses Zil Pasyon on Félicité Island is a strong alternative. Every villa has its own pool, and the spa sits among the island's granite rocks by the sea.

When to go: April, May, October and November are the calmest months, between the two trade-wind seasons. January and February are the wettest.

4. Santorini: for sunsets you share with each other

Santorini is made for celebrations. White villages cling to the edge of a volcanic caldera, and every evening the whole island seems to pause for the sunset.

Katikies in Oia sits right on the caldera edge, with three infinity pools on different levels. It welcomes guests aged 13 and older, so the mood stays calm. Like most caldera hotels, it has many stairs, so tell your advisor if steps are a concern.

Canaves Oia Epitome sits at the quieter northern edge of Oia, above the fishing harbor at Ammoudi. Every room has sea and sunset views, and each has a private or plunge pool.

When to go: April to May and September to October bring comfortable weather and smaller crowds. July and August are hot and busy. Many island hotels close in winter; Katikies, for example, opens from April to mid-November.

5. The Amalfi Coast: for la dolce vita

The Amalfi Coast is the anniversary trip for couples who love food, gardens and lemon-scented terraces. Days here are slow and sociable, with long lunches and boat rides along the cliffs.

Le Sirenuse in Positano is one of the coast's most loved hotels. It opened in 1951 in the Sersale family's summer house, and the family still runs it today. In 2026 the hotel marked its 75th anniversary, a fitting backdrop for your own. Its new beach club, Le Sirenuse Mare, sits in a quiet bay about 25 minutes away by boat.

Hotel Santa Caterina in Amalfi is a graceful alternative. A lift carries you from the hotel down to its own sea-level beach club, which makes swimming easy.

When to go: Late spring and early autumn are the sweet spots. Many hotels close in winter, so check opening dates before you settle on a month. Our guide to when to visit the Amalfi Coast covers the season month by month.

6. Bali: for culture, calm and your own villa

Bali offers something the other five do not: a living culture all around you. Temples, rice terraces and daily offerings give an anniversary trip real depth.

Bvlgari Resort Bali sits high on the limestone cliffs of Uluwatu. Each villa has a private plunge pool and ocean views, and a funicular takes you down to a secluded beach.

Four Seasons Resort Bali at Jimbaran Bay is a softer, garden-style choice. Its thatched villas each have a private garden and plunge pool, and stone paths lead down to a wide sandy beach.

When to go: The dry season runs from May to October. May and September are lovely shoulder months with fewer crowds. December and January are the wettest and busiest.

Little touches that make it an anniversary

The resort matters, but so do the details. A private dinner on the beach. A spa treatment for two. A car waiting at the airport so you never touch a bag. These are the moments that turn a good trip into the one you remember.
